15 Meteor Drive is the renovation and adaptive reuse of a former meat processing facility in an employment zone at the western edge of Toronto. The client, a contracting firm with a discerning eye for quality, purchased the building to transform it into a proper home for their business: a place of work that would reflect both their ambitions and their trade.

15 Meteor Drive is the renovation and adaptive reuse of a former meat processing facility in an employment zone at the western edge of Toronto. The client, a contracting firm with a discerning eye for quality, purchased the building to transform it into a proper home for their business: a place of work that would reflect both their ambitions and their trade.
The design of the building strives to weave influences and overlapping programs, mitigating extreme climate conditions as it crafts a pleasant and sustainable environment within. Furthermore, the particular expression of the architecture seeks to echo the local context and builds upon an established modern architectural heritage of public buildings in Dhaka.
Working within a tight budget, the design made a virtue of constraint — retaining and reconfiguring the original concrete blocks rather than replacing them, accommodating new and enlarged openings within the existing structure. Working with what was already there, in both material and structure, the project arrived at a completely different architectural vision. The entrance was relocated to the side, freeing the front elevation to serve as a composed facade of monolithic forms, angled roof edges, and precise apertures — finished in stucco, a material central to the client's own craft. The result is deliberate: the builder's building.
Inside, the layout was reorganised to support the full range of the company's operations, with a distinct and separately accessible portion designed for a future tenant. The landscape was equally transformed — parking consolidated on either side, greenery introduced, the building reoriented so that it sits within its site rather than upon it. Without changing its bones, the building reads as entirely new.
